BELLWAY HOMES - bad reviews?

Someone in my extended family is about to buy a Bellway home. It's not new, in fact it's 5 years old. I've been looking at reviews and Bellway get some awful reviews. They are having a full survey so presumably that will pick anything up?

Mostly the bad reviews are for brand new homes, not finished properly.

mine was bought from new in 2016. no problems at all.

Thank you. Good!

There is a Facebook page for owners of Bellway and some of the complaints are shocking but they seem mainly to be when bought off-plan - things not fitted properly, issues with boilers, doors, plumbing etc.

I'll be honest, ours is a Bellway and in the last 20 years we've found more things wrong with it than we can count, mainly jobs half finished, things not fitted correctly etc, dangerous electrics. It's like they built it in a rush. However, it is 20 years old so maybe things have improved in the last few years.

Can I ask did they ask you to get this heavily involved?

Downbutdefinitelynotout · 27/11/2022 10:36

Do you work for Bellway? @Joyfuljolly 😂

Eh no. And I’m guessing they didn’t ask you then.

Downbutdefinitelynotout · 27/11/2022 11:36

@Joyfuljolly why do you feel the need to even ask this question?

Thanks! I'm sorry you had such a lot of bother. I hope you've come to the end of the repairs now. I guess it's all rather mixed.

Bear in mind that people who write reviews will probably be doing that because they’ve got a problem or a gripe. If everything is fine, they probably won’t bother. Many of those housebuilder review sites are set up for complaints.

There will be snagging issues, just as there would be if you had an extension built, or a kitchen or bathroom refitted.

We haven’t bought a Bellway home, but we did rent one for 6 months whilst our house was finished. There was a problem with the garage door and some of the windows had scratches, but there wasn’t anything that made it uncomfortable or hard to live in.

Thanks @Bluevelvetsofa x
