Quote: Uninstall AGA

I've been quoted a figure to remove an AGA and am clueless if it's fair. I'm just wondering if anyone can share their quotes / what it cost them?

Either excluding or including the concrete slab

Thank you!

The quote I had five years ago was £5k including removing the slab.

I sold the house instead 😂😂

I think for 5k I'd go at it with a hammer 😂 (j/k, I'm aware of asbestos in older models)

I've heard it said it's very £££ to get them taken out.

We had an aga dismantled and packed up (so we could renovate and remove a wall). That was 18mths ago and I 'think' the disassembling alone was £600 or £800. I don't know what it would have been if we'd given them the aga which potentially they could have sold on though?

Another option would be to try to sell it yourself online and the collector must dismantle, or dismantle yourself using youtube videos and sell for scrap/sell on. Ours all came apart like a flat pack! Under the cooker plates there were 2 bin bags full of vermiculite which the company used a henry vacuum to suck out!

What have you been quoted?

Took ours out to renovate the house this year.
Two oven gas.
£300 to remove. £600 to re-install.
It needed a few bits changing, they came to £100.

We had one removed back in 2016 (or possibly 2015) by a company that renovates them to sell on. They paid us £800 to dismantle and remove everything except the slab.

You could go on facebook to ‘i love my independent aga engineer’ and ask there. You should be able to get a number of quotes. Upload a photo so they can see what it's like and if its worth while selling on.

2000€ in France both dismantling and re-installing.

We sold ours in Gumtree. Buyer paid £400 and arranged dismantling and collection themselves.
It was a massive 1970s oil fired one.

Not an aga , but a Rayburn ( solid fuel ) disconnected to pipes for rads, drained it down , we removed doors, lids as much as we could to reduce weight then a bloke in a grave digging truck came and took it away on a pallet truck. He gave me £150
