Candy washer dryer what am I doing wrong?

Hi - I wonder if anyone can help me. I have just bought a Candy washer dryer and am really struggling to get it to work properly. The wash cycles are fine but the drying cycles just don't work. Whatever heat level I select the machine just runs for 3-4 hours and leaves the clothes boiling hot and soaking wet still. I put the spin cycle on prior to drying to remove excess water but the it looks like water is being added to the drum at the start of the drying cycle which surely can't be right?
Can anyone help?

I've owned one of these previously. From what I remember the washing machine capacity and the dryer capacity were different. It didn't dry a full load.
I ended up having to dry a few items I needed in the dryer cycle and taking the rest and hanging it on the airer. It wasn't ideal.

Same as PP but we have a Zanussi. The drying load is about 3kg but the washing load is 7kg. Even with a smaller load it was useless, the clothes came out dry but very very creased. We ironed them but they'd gradually go back to the same creases over the course of the day. We switched to a separate tumble dryer that sits in the cupboard under the stairs.

Hi all thanks so much for your input. Unfortunately I don't think it's a load thing as I am only trying to dry 2 towels! Am going to have to get an engineer out I think.

I’ve never known a washer dryer to actually work. In my experience it’s just a warm spin, so the hot and wet comment rings true.

Washer/dryers are the spawn of the devil. They never seem to dry anything.

I had a Candy and it did work - drying could take a good few hours sometimes, but everything was dry eventually. Yours sounds faulty!

Your first mistake, was buying a washer dryer.

They are all terrible. Every one I've ever experienced has been pointless.

You're meant to remove about half the wet washing before the drying cycle then do a separate drying cycle for the rest.

greenacrylicpaint · 24/11/2022 17:11

are you overloading it?
when we had a washer dryer the manual said that the dryer function only works with half the load.

check the manual.

Are the towels a similar size? If not, they might not be spinning properly. The drum needs to balance the load to be able to spin, so if you are washing a big heavy bath towel with a small hand towel, they won't balance to spin and will remain soaking wet.

Therefore the drying cycle is trying to dry soaking wet towels that haven't spun. Perhaps you need to wash (and dry) a larger load than 2 towels.

CoolShoeshine · 24/11/2022 18:36

Leave the towels in the drum until they have cooled and some of the wet heat will evaporate

Thanks for all the replies. In the end I gave up and returned the machine (which probably was faulty TBH) and bought a Sharp washer dryer which works perfectly!
