Does this look like a rodent hole?

New flat, moved in recently.
When cleaning the top of kitchen cupboards, found this hole in wall. It’s on the top of cupboard and (according to partner, I can’t reach it) goes slightly under the back of cupboard too.
Decorators painted the area but didn’t mention it. No sign of rat/mouse activity in the flat, no droppings, sightings, missing food etc. and vendors or neighbours haven’t mentioned anything either.
Does anyone know what could have caused this? Plenty of dodgy DIY around the place, could it be that?

probably caused by the DIY rather than the mouse, but it could still be used by a mouse.

Fill it with Wire wool and then rodents can't get through.

Thanks both, yeah just looked at it again and seems to line up with the screws in the back of the cupboard - phew! Will fill it in anyway.
