Doors / windows spraying

Hi all,

I’ve got white UPVC windows and a white front door. The windows aren’t a massive bugbear, but the door is. It’s set in a recess so is the perfect place for spiders, webs, bugs, and shows up every single mark. It’s ALWAYS covered in marks, and frankly I’m sick of cleaning it. I had a white door at my old house but it was never as bad, I assume because it didn’t have the recess (and was therefore more exposed to the elements).

a friend of mine has just had hers resprayed from white to grey, and it looks lovely - but I know grey is generally thought of as being a bit dated now. I’m only really bothered about the door, but I think a coloured door and white windows might look a bit odd. Has anyone gone for any other colour that they like?

to be clear, I know the door will always be dirty. I don’t care about it BEING dirty, I just care about it not looking so dirty! Yes, I’m a slattern.

Do you like the sage green doors? Would that work?

I love sage green doors! That probably wouldn’t look too much at odds with white windows either. Thanks!

Def worth a look.
I use astonish paste to clean white upvc windows. Have you tried that?

We had ours sprayed and it looks lovely. They colour matched a farrow and ball colour we loved. Door was perfectly fine so didn't want to replace it but didn't want it white

I painted my garage door and plastic front door with Johnstones weathershield satin exterior oil based paint colour matched to my windows. RAL 7044. Cost me a can of white primer/unsercoat, 4 inch sponge roller, paintbrush and tin pf paint. Looks brilliant. Did it over 3 dry days in summer.

You don't say what age of house yours is, but if I'm thinking of any standard British house (eg my own Victorian terrace) surely it's fairly normal to have white window frames and a coloured front door?
Example attached (not my house).

You’re right, I was thinking this not long ago actually. There’s always been coloured front doors, and grey windows is a fairly new thing!
My house is 1940s, some of the external paintwork is black, so black seems the obvious choice but I can’t pretend I’m not tempted by a bolder colour!

I’ve cleaned the door loads, it just doesn’t stay clean because it doesn’t get hit with rain water enough to get rid of anything. To be fair, I’ve also thought of painting it myself but am not great with anything vaguely resembling DIY! the company who did my friends had an offer on last month which said £140 for a door, which seems cheap enough for me to give it a go - but they also say they can’t do it once it gets too wet and cold. So it might be a job for next spring!
