Can you change the colour of terracotta tiles?

Just moved house and while we're doing a lot of renovation work, the kitchen will have to wait as other bits are more urgent and we can't afford to do everything in one hit.

The kitchen has horrible terracotta tile work. Is there any way to stain, paint or cover these to change the colour? Cover laminates won't work as they have a wavy edge.

You can paint tiles with tile paint or have them professionally sprayed.

I'd go with the tile stickers myself! You can buy them with an uneven terracotta edging to them very cheap on eBay (I used some on my boring white tiled fire surround and they look very effective!) so the uneven edges wouldn't be a problem...

These are the ones I have used before and they do look really effective! Just peel and stick! They've got the "realistic" Victorian terracotta edging...

Hmm by the edges to these tiles aren't straight so they won't fit flush I don't think.

Maybe I'll buy a pack and try it out

If the stickers won't work, you could try Annie Sloane chalk paint. All paint will eventually scratch on tiles, but the beauty of Annie Sloane is that it's super easy to apply and to touch when needed. I also like the colours. You can varnish it after painting to seal.

Someone here obviously was very patient with a stencil and 2 buckets of Annie Sloane paint 😉Not me. My all over 1 colour lasted on some floor tiles rather well, though.

I had those and I tile painted them-it lasted for years no bother and was really easy to do

Is that the floor or a splash back? You can definitely paint them white using tile paint but if it's the splash back then you might find it wouldn't be very expensive to replace.
