Dishwasher problems

Hi. I've got an AEG dishwasher that when trying to run will spend ages trying to drain before starting the program. It then gives an error code that means Malfunction of the Water Level Detection Sensor.

However it will then often work if i pour hot or boiling water down it first. I've had someone to look at it who replaced the pump and it worked briefly after that.

The fact it works after putting hot water down it makes me think it's not a mechanical fault. Anyone got any ideas?

Is the water level sensor detector the float switch which detects leaks in the tray underneath the dishwasher? If it is it might be worth opening the bottom up and seeing if there is stuff leaking into the drip tray.

I had a similar intermittent fault with a Bosch dishwater was the sensor.

I had this problem and found a YouTube video on how to fix it. I removed a panel at the bottom and saw a small puddle of water under the dishwasher. I mopped this up with a bundle of paper towels on a stick.
