Kitchen sink draining slowly for a few days and now dishwasher not draining.
Have tried soda/boiling water/fairy liquid/plunger. Also tried a drain snake but can’t advance far/seems to get stuck on corners.

googling suggests I should check/clean the U bend but can’t work out how to undo mine! Not a typical U - can anyone help? (Photo attached)

the bulbous bit does seem to advance down with some pressure but worried will end up breaking it if keep going

anyone have similar/can advise?

The bottom bit should unscrew, but can be sticky. You might want a bowl underneath for when it comes off, mine had disgusting slimy stuff in it

Ah thank you - could get it to twist before but will dry again without gloves

Yup v bottom bit. Looks like an IKEA set up.

Try wearing rubber gloves to turn it.

Put a couple of cups of washing up liquid down the sink, leave overnight & flush with boiling water.
