Removing a cat flap from front door?

We are in the process of buying a new house and the current owners have a cat. They’ve fitted a cat flap into the front door which is a paneled wooden door (no glazing).

We don’t have a cat and dont intend to get one so we don’t need the cat flap. My question is whether my only option is to replace the door? Is there any way of removing and repairing? Has anyone done this?

if not the door being replaced will just be a job that we eventually get around to 🤣

It'll be handy for the postman to stuff parcels through.

No idea really, but I would have thought a competent carpenter could replace just the panel.

(RM, you and I are destined to discuss cat flaps for ever!)

@FuzzyPuffling I thought about our last conversation when I posted the question 🤣🤣🤣 fair point about the post but only very small parcels would fit 🤔

Yes I wondered if a carpenter might be able to offer a solution. It’s not a job I would try and take on myself 🤣

Wouldn't you just peel the mouldings off, replace the panel and put the mouldings back?

See if it's a locking cat flap and just keep it locked until you're ready to either replace the panel or replace the door.
