Why would my boiler be making a very strange grinding/straining noise when the hot tap is put on ?

Hard to explain the noise , but it is loud !

At first we thought it was the pressure pump making the noise but now we know it is all hot taps.

I know I will need to get someone out to check but does it mean it is ready to blow up .

Hoping it might be a quick fix ?

It does not happen when the heating is put on .

Thanks ,if anyone has any ideas what I am looking at .

Is it a combi boiler then?

bizzey · 14/11/2022 14:57

No , not a combi .

Good point !

I need to check it while water is not on to heat.

an airlock? may need to bleed the radiators.

bizzey · 14/11/2022 15:04

Ok.
Water not on to heat.
DC is having shower and it is making noise.

But not as loud as when water is heating maybe .?

I am starting to confuse my self now 😂.

I am an annoying person who likes to tell boiler person all situations .

Ours made that noise, it was the pump

Humbleumbrella · 15/11/2022 08:05

No idea but we also have this problem..only with the hot taps..it gies off when the cold tap us turned on.

bizzey · 15/11/2022 14:23

Thank everyone.
I bled the radiators and they are fine.

Looks like I am going to have to call someone and clear out my airing cupboard!

I had this problem, and it was an airlock. I searched for a fix and it worked. It was easy and I didn't cost anything, but you'd be better off asking PigletJohn
