To Do List Before Completion

We've exchanged today and complete week on Friday. Already booked broadband to be sorted and paid for house/contents insurance on new house. I'm going to do the Royal Mail forwarding service and take meter readings on the day. Removals are booked.

What else have I forgotten?

I know you said you've paid for insurance on the new house, just worth checking it starts from today and not completion date. You need it to cover from exchange.

Oven clean etc. for the old house?
Council tax
Notice to window cleaner/cleaner/gardener/any other regular services you use
Update address for any magazine/newspaper/other subscriptions
Update address for bank cards
Driving licence address

We're completing in a couple of weeks as well. On our list:

Book parking suspension for removals
Make list of everyone we need to notify of change of address
Sort keys and guarantees/ appliance instructions for current address
Final declutter/ book tip slot
Prepack before packers come

We've done the Royal Mail redirection already and booked our removals

AdInfinitum12 yes the cover starts from today on the insurance but thanks for mentioning it. I'm sure there are some people who might think it should run completion.

any parcel subscriptions that don’t go through royal mail?

any pets? Change address in micro chips and plan for moving day for them.

a note book and pen to scribble down the names and house number of new neighbours. I forgot my next door neighbours name and had to wait to Christmas until she sent a Christmas card!! I have been over using her name to make up for it!

Oh and new locks. Always change the locks on day one.

You need to give notice for the RM redirection to start. Car registration documents and licences, car insurance, bank accounts and credit card.
