Has anyone actually only replaced kitchen door fronts, plinths etc??

Want a new kitchen.. can't afford it so looking to improve what we've currently got. I know a lot of people are painting/spraying their cabinets but I got a recent quote and it was £1500 so think I'd rather go down the route of replacing the doors, plinths etc instead.

Has anyone actually done this before? Can anyone share pictures or recommend a company? I think we would just fit the doors ourselves as assuming that's doable and relatively straight forward.

Google is overwhelming as soon as you start looking so any help would be appreciated!

We went through the same and ended up painting ours ourselves. It took a couple of full days but we were absolutely delighted with it. Saved us a fortune

Excuse the “before” photo, most of my old photos aren’t available at the moment - this one was taken when a shelf collapsed in the middle of the night!

I was happy with my units, so I changed the worktop/flooring (both low-end options, didn’t have the budget for anything fancy). I painted the units myself using Little Greene Tom’s Oil paint - it’s really hard wearing, not had any chips yet. It’s not cheap, but 2.5 litre tin did 2 coats on all doors (inside and out), drawers etc. The units are at least 13 years old, but I can’t see me replacing the kitchen at all. If I fancy a change in a few years then I’ll just choose a new colour and paint again myself.

I kept the door handles/drawer pulls that the previous owners chose, but you could also look at changing them once cabinets are painted - another fairly low-cost way of changing the look of the room.
