Has anyone successfully refreshed an (IKEA) kitchen?

Hi all,

We currently live in a house with an ageing IKEA kitchen which needs a bit of a refresh. We're happy with the layout and would keep it the same if we got a new kitchen, so totally replacing it feels like a waste (and we probably don't have the money). Annoyingly the kitchen is so old that they have changed the measurements for the current IKEA kitchens so we couldn't just replace the doors etc from IKEA.

I've seen a few options online which include getting the cupboards professionally spray painted, replacing handles, getting a worktop overlay, or ordering replacement doors from a third company. Has anyone tried any of these methods and if so, how much did it cost and were you happy with it?

Thanks!

I got an advert the other day for an IKEA kitchen door company that's just started doing doors for the old style Factum kitchen. Might have been Superfront...

Superfront look great but I would be anxious ordering from Sweden post-Brexit - very tricky/expensive to return if things turn out not to fit or be suitable.

I am very interested in this as we are buying somewhere with an old and decrepit Faktum kitchen, but I fear that replacing all the doors and fittings from one of these companies is barely cheaper than getting a new kitchen altogether…

There's this UK based company that will make replacement doors. faktum.co.uk/
