Mortgage Extension

Our mortgage offer for our first house purchase runs out on 30/11 and we don't seem anywhere near exchange.
What are the chances of getting an extension to our current offer? Has any done this recently?
Our offer is with Santander at a pre Truss rate.

You need to ask Santander to see if they’ll offer good will. But realistically, what would be in it for them, to lend you money at a loss? They make the offers time limited for a reason, essentially.

Unfortunately, you will be offered the current rates! I am a mortgage advisor.

Just wondering how you know this for sure? Our mortgage advisor is still confident we'll be able to successfully apply for an extension (TSB)

My mortgage broker didn't think I'd have an issue extending mine for a month if necessary (NatWest) But only your lender can say for sure.

All lenders and different, currently Santander does not offer extensions.

I'm wondering the same about Halifax, anyone know what they're like about extensions?

Nationwide have just given us an extra 45 days (it originally expired on 21 Nov).

My mortgage was offered by Santander towards the start of this year, and was due to expire on 31 August 2022. My vendors vendor (3 in chain) was moving at snails pace, and it was likely we would miss this date.

I contacted Santander and they said due to Covid my mortgage qualified for an automatic 1 month extension, my solicitor just needed to request this, which she did. I then spent another month nervously waiting as this was in the midst of all the market turmoil caused by Truss and Kwarteng, and completed my purchase on 30 September 2022.

I was extremely worried Santander might pull the offer, but they stood by my 5 year fix at 1.99%, so there must be some rules around this. It's definitely worth you asking them about the automatic extension as I benefitted from it.
