Things to do before you move

So there are a few of us that have recently moved or are moving (hopefully) soon and was just wondering about preparing your house before moving.

are you leaving any furniture/white goods for your buyer?

Are you removing all picture hooks etc?

will you leave a gift for your buyer?

are you paying for removals or are you planning a DIY job

any tips to share

Will add my answers. We are leaving slimline dishwasher, under counter fridge and freezer for our buyers as they are FTB and these won’t fit into our new house

im in the process of removing pictures. Have removed some picture hooks/nails and filled holes but was t sure whether to leave a couple on the lounge or not for them to put their own pics up with (we don’t have loads of pictures just a couple of large ones on each room)
we have got wall mounted brackets for TVs in all the bedrooms so will need to remove these and fill/make good any holes left behind

planning to put together a folder of instructions for the white goods we are leaving behind, there are some historic papers for when the house was first sold which are interesting and we will leave them some basic instructions such as bin day etc plus a card and a small gift as they are a lovely couple just starting out with their first house.

any house moving tips welcome as we’ve been here for 19 years and it’s only our 2nd house together and been a long time since we moved

We're not leaving any white goods apart from all the integral stuff in the kitchen ( f/f, dishwasher, ovens, hob).

Yes I've taken all the picture hooks down and filled the holes and touched up the paintwork.
No gifts really for the buyer, but I'll leave "notes on working the house"...bin instructions, how to turn on the boiler for hot water, that sort of thing. I'll also leave the most recent village magazine and a copy of the book about the history of the village, and a guide to the church.

If I've got time, I might do a plan of the garden with the names of the plants. But probably won't be bothered!

We're doing our own packing ( I want to be able to find stuff at the other end) but using a removal firm for the ( literal) heavy lifting.

I've got no idea about who's buying my house apart from their names. I've never met them, they haven't wanted a second visit, the EA describes them as "laid back". Could be axe murderers for all I know!!
