Grants for external work to house in conservation area

Does anyone know if it's possible to apply for grants to help with external work to a house in a conservation area (not listed)? Our house had the roof and windows replaced in the 80s and they are not in keeping and we would love to put back to sash windows and slate roof (the roof tiles have tested positive for asbestos), but are a long way off from affording it. We are in the South East of England.

I think you will have to speak to someone in the local conservation office to ask. Unless you tell us which area you live in case someone on here also lives there.

We looked for stuff like this about 4 years ago when we moved into a conservation area and couldn't find anything.

There aren't grants for making good a listed building so I don't think there are for conservation areas.

I've had property in just a conservation area, and it was really just follow the rules but we won't help you.

Our old house was in a conservation area but not listed and there weren't any grants. There was the normal energy saving stuff that's available generally as grants but nothing specifically for houses in a conservation area.

No help for you OP but they do exist in Scotland. Or did, a few years ago.
