Basements

My sister is considering buying a house where the cellar has been converted into a basement. Does anyone have experience living in a property with such a conversion and what issues have you experienced?

If it's been properly tanked and has some kind of ventilation it can be a very useful extra space. Are the steps user-friendly?

She’d definitely want to dig into the details of the work. So photos, bills, guarantees etc. How long ago it was done. Was any drainage done outside?
Is the house priced that it’s extra livable rooms or just storage?

I live in a row of 4 that were built with basements. We all use ours as living areas. It’s lovely and cool in the summer.
