No, they all areas in their own right although you do need to watch around the boundaries if you're looking at property as estate agents might called it Brooklands because Baguely sounds less attractive!
The main difference is that Timperley, Brooklands and Sale are in Trafford local authority area, Gatley and Cheadle are Stockport borough council area and Wythenshawe is Manchester City Council.

Do you know if Salford is a safe place to live. I saw a few people online mention it is not a good area.

Salford is also a huge area, there are good bits and less nice bits, like everywhere really! What are you looking for in terms of property, budget, access to schools, public transport etc?

Salford is quite mixed so it depends exactly where in Salford. When I moved to Manchester in the mid 90s Salford was an area to avoid but since the redevelopment of the quays, Media City etc some parts have improved a lot. There are a lot of student areas too. Personally I'd choose one of the other areas you've mentioned over Salford, although bare in mind, areas like Gatley do suffer from airport noise. If you're looking at South Manchester / Stockport, look at The Heatons too (Chapel and Norris being the more affordable areas).

As a PP said Salford is a 'huge area', and as in any city 'naice' areas rub shoulders with the less so. Worsley (which is within the Borough Salford) is one of the most desirable areas in Greater Manchester.

Salford is a city in its own right. There are some lovely, incredibly expensive bits full of man United footballers, there are bits which are also some of the most deprived areas in Europe, I think a depressive figure like a quarter of all under 18s in salford live in poverty?

What do you need and what can you afford there are ALOT of MNers in greater Manchester who can offer really good first hand advice
