Letter from previous address

Moved out of property Jan 2022

Had redirection of letters in place but royalmail failed

Sent a friend to property today and he said the lady told him she's given all letters to council & that someone I owe money said they she should call them when she sees me .

I jumped in the car went to the address saw a man (assume is the husband) he said no letters that there were only 3 which gave me & that he called council to say not to send letter

They are eastern eu so do not understand or speak good English

My worry is was my letters actually given to someone? Who can I contact to get to the bottom of all these?

I feel they are not telling the truth about the letters.
What can I do?

Some ideas:

Go back through your address book and personal affairs and make sure you have changed all the addresses with everyone who you want / need to hear from.

Leave a stash of address labels and stamps with the new owner so they can forward any mail which slips through.

Or ask a former neighbour, someone you were friendly with, if you can ask the new owner to push any mail through their door for them to forward to you.

That's all you can do.

There is no point being cross with the new owner. What were they supposed to do with your post apart from return it to sender?

I have plan to go through my address book again

I am just wondering y the wife said to my wife that she gave my letters to the council (which is strange)

Then went there within 30 mins & the husband said there was no letters given to anyone & gave me 3 letters
