Sorry I can't upload an image for some reason, but I really love the kitchen in the first picture here and am thinking of doing something similar. I wondered what fridge would work well with this look? I usually have an integrated fridge but wonder if that's going to look a bit odd with so much dark green wood. Can you recommend a nice looking free-standing fridge that would fit into a rustic country kitchen? Thank.

My friend has a kitchen like this and they have a large retro Smeg fridge in a cream shade that matches their units. I think it suits the period cottage vibe really well.

Pricey but a thing of beauty

Thank you- I can imagine that working well actually. Will look into Smegs.

If Smeg too pricy Swan do a similarly "retro" style but I can't vouch for quality or function

Smegs get pretty poor reviews in terms of quality, energy efficiency and durability. I would personally go for integrated if you are aiming for a dining/living room look like the article is suggesting.

Unless they changed the inside I also found the Smeg too small

I would still go integrated. Full size fridge and freezer size by side hidden in a built in cupboard to look like a larder.

We have a cream Smeg exactly like the one above, in a similar type of kitchen to that in the OP. Ours was purchased 24 years ago and has moved with us a few times. It's still going strong and as they aren't exactly cheap we're reluctant to replace till it literally breathes its last, but I agree with previous posters that they are very much style over substance. When we do replace I'd like to do integrated with doors to resemble a traditional larder.

Wow I love that kitchen! I was going to suggest a Smeg or a swan retro looking fridge or fridge/freezer
