Help! What carpet

My DD 16 needs a new carpet in her room. She likes the texture of these ones but DH is worried they'll get pulled and look awful - we have cats but they're not normally allowed in her room due to allergies. Does anyone have similar texture carpets that have lasted ok? Thanks

We have a cat who is also not allowed in bedrooms but sometimes slips in. We also have a similar sort of carpet in two of the bedrooms and when there has been cat access it hasn't been a problem. Tight loops and surfaces that resemble scratching posts are the ones to avoid.

We have this type carpet on the stairs and landing. The prior tenants had a cat, which did claw the edge of the bottom stair until it was a bit shaggy looking. However, we just snipped the loose bits off with nail scissors and you can’t even tell it had been clawed. So I think if your worry is the one off cat gets in and claws, it should be ok as you can use the nail scissor trick.

I have this type of carpet and two cats. They love to scratch it, and like a PP said, I just snip off the frayed bits. I’ve mitigated the scratching somewhat by putting one of those cardboard cat scratch boxes near where they like to scratch most. They prefer the cardboard thing for scratching and mostly use that now.

I've got this type of carpet in the bedroom and it's 15 years old - still in good condition. I would go for the top left one as long as you are a no shoes household.

Brilliant thank you all so much! You have put my mind at rest. Investing in something that might not be suitable was stressing me out. I will tell DH we should order the carpet and yes DD likes the light coloured one too!

It's really nothing a good pair of nail scissors won't fix!

does DD realise it's NOT A 'cosy' carpet?
