Rats in new house

We bought our house in February of this year. In the past week we have been hearing rats in the walls and in the ceiling between floors. We have discovered a small section of loose floor board in the living room and found 2 rat traps under the floorboards. One with a dead decomposed rat in it.

Pest control are currently sorting the issue and have found the entry point. My question is could the dead rat have caused any sickness to my young daughters (2.5 and 7 months) and were the precious owners obligated to disclose to us about rats in the house as they had knowledge of it before selling. It wasn't found during inspection obviously.

Im sorry you are experiencing this.

I'm afraid I don't think they were obligated to tell you unless expressively asked by your solicitors. Of course it would have been courteous of them to let you know but I understand that caveat emptor and all.

You are never very far from a rat, especially if you’re sat in a restaurant in a big town. No it’s not likely to have caused you or your family any I’ll effects.

Hey! We're about to be in a similar position, how are things now? Did you manage to get rid of the rats?
