What if it goes tits up tomorrow to and doesn't happen, we can only chase as much as poss but its the solicitors who need to het themselves together to do this. I DONT want exchange and completion on same day... im losing sleep, I cant focus on my job, I am finding this stressfull, ftb here so new to us, just want this over and done with

Not much you can do but hang in and hope is there? If it’s any consolation we exchanged and completed the same day as FTB. Keeping my fingers crossed for you and good luck!

It’s such a stressful time, we moved last year, I can empathise completely, I felt totally frazzled by the time we exchanged. Hold on, it sounds like it will happen soon 🤞it’s such a relief when it does. Good luck OP.

@Laurasanford111 I can remember it well, good luck for today 🤞I even said to my DH I just can’t stand anymore of this, tell them we are pulling out, he said I think we are nearly there, he was right, we exchanged that day. Our move has just been the best thing for our family, it’s worth it in the end. So hope you exchange today.

I'm not booking anything ( like the removal firm) until we have actually exchanged. Or getting my hopes up.

I feel for you. I last bought and sold 7 years ago and this time round is very different and a lot more anxiety -inducing. And made worse by slow solicitors.

@FuzzyPuffling I literally told my partner not to pack a thing until we had exchanged, but with a completion date of this Fri and us both being at work all week he decided to pack all kitchen stuff, both bedrooms and so yeah.. if it fails we will feel like a right pair of idiots unpacking again!! 😵

We have packed stuff but only things we won't need for a long time, like summer clothes and the Easter wreath, or stuff I can do without like decorative items.
DH has a splendid spreadsheet listing where everything is.

How have you got a completion date without exchange?

@FuzzyPuffling yes, this Friday! Thats why I am kind of in panic mode, solicitor said regardless of exchange everyone is still happy to aim for Friday... so lost with it all, dont want an exchange/completion on same day, have you got a completion date set?

Laurasanford111 Huge good luck for Friday (and before). It's exciting. Who doesn't love a new start?!
We've not exchanged yet as my buyers solicitors are absolute lazy-bastard charlatans. They are getting hassle from everyone who can hassle though. Fingers are firmly crossed and prayers to St Anne!

I could have written Op's first post! We were due to exchange last Friday also. Still unsure why it didn't happen. I've heard two 'stories'; solicitor as start of chain being pressed and funds not drawn down in time! We sold our house mid June and despite being given a completion date for the end of October last week (all in chain agreeable to this) we can't get an exchange date. I just hope someone down the chain isn't holding out for a simultaneous exchange/completion - we will not agree to this. So, another day of waiting and worrying. This whole system is flawed!
