Larder cupboards? Can you recommend one please?

doing our kitchen and I really would like a freestanding pantry larder cupboard. Has anyone had one they recommended and LOVE please. I’ve looked at some that are fabulous open, but when closed just look like a a wardrobe and underwhelming. I would like it to stand alone on a wall as a feature. Still looking around at kitchen so would consider a build in one too that looks great. Thank you!

Thanks for the pantry appreciation! All being well we’ll be moving at some point and I’ll miss this and the bookshelves DH made me so much!

We have a Cotswold & Co one which I’m very pleased with I picked it up on eBay the packaging was damaged and I’ll be honest there were a few scuffs but nothing insurmountable and I think I ended up paying 700 instead of 1200

I have the double cupboard in oak from the furnituremarket and really like it.

I’d have loved the triple but don’t have room.

I don’t think it looks like a wardrobe - the drawers are in the middle so no way does it look like you could hang anything in the top half.

Looking at these cupboards I'm in awe at the contents. My cupboard is quite bare in comparison.

That is a real work of art, @tunnocksreturns2019. I love it!

He even put an integral light switch in for me 🥰 and we stuck up a poster of British Pig Breeds on the bare wall on the right because why not? 🤣

Can't think of a single reason why not 😁

Oh my shitting gods @tunnocksreturns2019 - I have serious pantry envy!!! We are moving soon and will be completely ripping out and moving the kitchen and I desperately want a pantry. DP is ambivalent but I sooooo want one. I'm going to show him your photo tomorrow - I bet that will persuade him about the wonder of a beautiful pantry.....

We have a large pantry cupboard - maybe originally Cotswold company? - and I agree it did look like a wardrobe. Luckily I have a brother who’s a talented artist so he painted leaves and flowers all over it, now it’s a lovely feature and not so bland :)

Wildernesstips · 22/10/2022 07:31

I have a Cotswold Company one and love it. I freed up so much other cupboard space when I got it as I moved all my food into it. I was a bit concerned it might be wardrobey but in situ I think it looks good.

Seriously impressed by yours Tunnocks - so tidy!

Some good ideas here, I'm thinking of getting something for the dining room for both food and table setting stuff, but the prices are high - I'm considering buying a secondhand wardrobe and shelving it out.

ginislife · 22/10/2022 08:02

IKEA. No idea what the model is but it was 3 tall cupboards joined together. Put the shelves where you want them. It's a beautiful turquoise colour and I now have a diy kitchen the same colour - but the cupboards are now in a bedroom as a wardrobe - though it's definitely a kitchen cupboard.

Ours is a built in one made from a 1000mm wide cupboard, customised on site by kitchen fitter.
It is framed by an open wine rack and open shelves to give it a bit of oomph
Make sure to use hinges with 170 degree opening.
Thoroughly recommend the door shelves

You asked me to feed back on my new cupboards: iI have larder cupboards from Furniture Market. They are in the unpainted Cheshire Oak.
I have the large (they have different depths) double larder, the single and the double larder sideboard top, which has gone onto the worktop as a breakfast cupboard (our electrician has put a socket inside).
I am thrilled with them. The build quality is sound, they are a good solid chunky finish. They are by no means 'fine furniture' and that is exactly what I wanted for my kitchen. They are lovely and smooth with a subtle sheen. The doors and drawers feel solid and well manufactured. The rest of the kitchen is Matt white slab with neutral quartz and stainless steel so the natural wood softens everything down and makes it more homely. I used to have our store cupboard food in one carousel base unit and one 50cm wall unit. It all fits easily into the top of the single larder and all the 'to hand' stuff like oils and seasonings that lived on a big tray beside the hob are tucked away so the worktop is completely clear.
They just hold so much more than the equivalent base and wall cupboard in fitted units.

Thanks for the update. I've kept this post for the future as hoping for new kitchen next year.
Could you post a pic if poss ?

picklemewalnuts · 27/11/2022 11:46

@ODFOx that sounds amazing! I too would love a picture!

Puplovex · 09/07/2023 14:48

I know your post has been up a while, however Next have their Grey Malvern double larder up for £280 in sale today, instead of £800+. For anyone searching same thing, in current time.😋

How about ikea Billy with doors?

MistletoeMeadow · 10/07/2023 14:11

I have one from Larders UK. They sprayed it in the F&B colour to match my kitchen table legs, and it’s made bespoke to your requirements. I’d recommend.

SnaccidentsHappen · 10/07/2023 14:38

We didn't have much depth so went for these ikea besta units.

We will be building a false wall all around it so that it looks built in.
