How much would a small Velux window fitting cost?

Any idea please? The window itself costs £300 to buy and it's a single storey roof.

What would you expect to pay to have it fitted? Excluding and including plasterboard and plastering?

The tradesmen I've contacted have said we'd need to arrange plastering separately.

Thanks in advance...

Paid £1000 2 years ago for similar including fitting

The £1000 excluded plastering

Thank you, at the moment we're struggling to get anyone to even come out and quote.

Can you find a window company who will handle supply and fit together rather than paying separately?

NellyBarney · 16/10/2022 11:30

Do you need scaffolding? Our scaffold was about 1k, then it took about 3 days for a crew of 3 for 2 rooflights and some slates had to be replaced. So maybe 2 days work for 2 people, so whatever their dayrates. 200 pounds/day us vat is usual outside London, so budget 1k for fitting? Without plastering, so another dayrate of 220 incl. Vat for the plasterer.

There seems to be a shortage of plasterers, or a reluctance for the fitters to find them. We can find a plasterer ourselves and DH will plasterboard it, so that wouldn't be a big issue. We just can't get the fitters to respond at the moment.

No, it's single storey, so no need for scaffolding. I can get up there myself!

I was recommended a local roofing company rather than window company

Thanks, I'll try that too.

Have you thought about installing it yourself? There are a tonne of videos on YouTube to help you do it step by step. We managed to put 3 in with a fair bit of swearing and lots of video watching.

We found someone and it cost about £650 in the end. We bought the window ourselves.

Thanks for the replies!
