Carpeting a furnished room

I need to put new carpet in my son’s room but he has a high sleeper which would be hideous to disassemble and remove from the room.

Is it possible to move it to one side, carpet where it was, move it back and carpet the rest of the room?

I know it’s preferable to empty the room but is it possible without?

yes it is possible move all the small stuff out of the room move bed to one side fit carpet lift the bed back into the side thats done then finish off other side

If you do it yourself and just plonk it down with some tacks, yes. But a carpet fitter will need it clear or at least expect you to arrange it beforehand.

@NeverDropYourMooncup

You mean a carpet fitter wouldn’t allow it to be fit like that? Even if I explained beforehand and paid extra?

@Isseywith3witchycats

thank you - that’s what I hope I can arrange.

I think you have to be prepared to try to find a carpet fitter willing to do this, and obviously pay them for it. When I had to replace carpet in two bedrooms I managed to find a pair of fitters who agreed to move the furniture between rooms as they changed it.

I recently had carpets fitted and the fitter was happy you move large furniture items that could not easily be taken out of room. He moved them out of the way fitted one side of room and then moved them over to fit the other side.

I did this and was left with a wrinkle in my carpet. The fitter then got out the small print saying this could happen if there was furniture in the room. Never again.

Ok. A few different perspectives. I’ll have to think.

We recently had carpet fitted and there was an option to pay extra for fitter to deal with furniture. They come out to quote so just as them at that point.

OP I’m buying a new build and had hoped to get flooring down before moving my furniture in, but they won’t even measure until I get the keys so unless I put all my stuff in storage until nearly Christmas and stay in a hotel they’re going to have to work with the furniture in there. Apparently it’s fine, I’ll just have to pay extra…

Merryoldgoat · 16/10/2022 12:11

Ok. I’ll chat to the fitters. Thank you everyone.
