Why is cold water pressure low?!

I'm in rented but I called my landlord out last week for something embarassingly stupid that I should have been able to fix myself so I don't want to do it again. The cold water pressure in our rented house is low, from all taps. The hot water is absolutely fine but not the cold. What reason could there be for this because google isn't telling me anything!

Has it suddenly gone low or has it always been like this?
If it's a recent thing then there could be work ongoing on the water mains that means it's been reduced (your water company might have a "what's going on in my area" thing on their website), you must have a leak somewhere in the property or on the connection between the mains and your property. If it's always been like that then you possibly just live somewhere with rubbish water pressure!

If the hot water is ok, assuming a combi boiler?,then that would indicate a sufficient cold water mains inlet pressure.
Maybe some of the cold taps have a partially turned off isolating valve,?

Check stop cock is open. Check outside tap is ok and no toilets or overflows are running constantly. Check any water meter to see if it's turning constantly.

We had that problem one time and it turned out the fire brigade were putting out a big fire. And another time the water main up the hill had burst big style.
If it's still not right in a day or two might be worth checking more.

It's not always been like this, it's just today - usually the pressure is excellent here and the hot water pressure is still very strong. We don't have an outside tap so I can't check that and we don't have a water meter. Toilets seem fine. Bizarre, maybe it's a local issue.

Where are you?

What is the water pressure like at the kitchen cold tap? (That one should be first off the incoming main)

If you're in Bristol there is a massive burst affecting multiple post codes areas.

Check the water company website, it’s likely to be a burst or works underway if it’s just happened today.
