Just read in the Telegraph that government may be scrapping section 21 reform. When Gove was Leveling Up minister he was keen on it. I am thinking with so many btl LL selling up because of several measures aimed at btl LL which cause them concern such as EPC C, scrapping of section 21 and the length of time it takes to get to court with a tenant even if the owe months of rent or have trashed the house. In Scotland Sturgeon bringing in rent freeze until April and not allowing LL to evict any tenant and Scottish LL are selling in droves.

So an influx of properties on the market that LL want to sell, in a recession

Paul Shamplina of Landlord Action, commenting on the Landlord Zone website, says: “If this true, after three years of indecision about being abolished, it would be a major victory for landlords. I speak to landlords and agents every day and the feedback has been they generally have been worried about being able to gain possession of a property back.

“This move will also see a lot of landlords change their mind in selling up, which can only be good for tenants.
Housing stock has been dwindling and rents have been rising. I’ve said it all along it’s called non fault eviction, but there is always a fault.”

I think you’ve rather misunderstood @ivykaty44 The reason potentially Landlord may have flooded the market has just been removed.

I missed the word reform - sorry

section 21 are a bastard, usually served wrong aswell. Which actually means they’d be useless in court.

we need some regulations on renting but not as restrictive as the 1970s
