Please help me to look at the chimney stack

I’ve received a survey report for my 1950s semi house, report said damp was found on the chimney stack, possibly due to poor weatherproofing or defect with stack.

Estate agent has conducted another contractor to look again, comment that the staining to the L/H party wall breast, within the roof void, is historic and there is no water ingress from the flashings, with photo of chimney area attached.

I am the first time buyer and not too much knowledge on housing, can you please help to look if this is alright?anything i should be going back to vendor? I appreciate for any comments.

Builder DH said get someone to have a good look as lots of water stain, there is filler foam been put in up there, and some new rafters… so original rafters may have been damaged?

Can be that it is an unused flue and the chimney was not/has not been capped off at the top and there is water ingress as a result?

Disused chimneys can be very damp if they have been left open.

When you say your house, are you buying it or selling it?

If buying, why is the EA getting someone to look t it? You need to employ your own builder to take a look so you know you're getting an unbiased report.

Book another viewing for a day and time when it is forecast to be pissing it down.
