Hi all,

We had our hearts set on the IKEA vimle but due to our vendors messing us about and moving dates back we can no longer get them as they're unavailable ☹️ criteria are:

  • 2x 3 seater preferably with chaise section
  • neutral colours (beige/greige)
  • wide square arms
  • ideally sofa bed/storage option
  • delivery before Christmas

So basically as similar to the vimle as possible! Any help would be hugely appreciated

Or companies people have had good experiences with - it's such a minefield! Thanks in advance

Have a look on Trade Secret. You have to register, but they have loads of decent quality furniture available for immediate delivery. We're got a John Lewis sofa (perfect) for about £400 less than retail price, delivered in less than a week. It's obviously hit and miss whether they'll have what you want, but we found the exact sofa we were going to order in the exact fabric! Good luck.

We had an IKEA EKtorp and it was awful! Cushions didn’t hold their shape at all. So when you sit, you drop really low into a lumpy cushion. And this was after just a couple of months with 2 people living there. Ikea told us to jog on and it was ‘normal wear and tear’

I'd think biggest issue is the pre Xmas delivery. I spent ages choosing a sofa to find it's about 6 months wait!

Went with the 5 day delivery next one, in a huff really. Very pleased with it.

How about a ‘sofa in a box’ company, like Snug or Swyft?

Take a look at Nabru. Basically it's a sofa in a box but you design it to your own specifications, inc covers. We have one and, hands down, it's the best sofa we've ever had. Really comfortable and stands up to two cats who pointedly ignore their scratching posts...because all the components are already in stock, delivery is super quick.
