Ask for a reasonable completion date after exchange after conveyancing has been bumpy

Long story short . Conveyancing has taken far far too long due to a slow conveyancer in the chain ( not us ) . Lots of hoo ha - complaints - ea say not due diligence probs. Part of the chain ( top) has threatened to pull out all along - ( gone a bit quiet this week tho’ ) if it all took too long but very very clear wants to exchange and complete asap . wanted end august from the beginning with offer accepted. Eight weeks before . Anticipate talk of completion dates tomorrow with exchange probs next week finally. I’ve given heads up a month ago that the week after next for completion was out for personal work reasons that can’t be cancelled or shifted . Can complete end of month a couple of days later - Worried that part of the chain ( our vendor ) will see this as the last straw and walk away . We don’t have mortgage and are reliant on equity from our buyer but are cash buyers iyswim . We have been clear and transparent buyers from the start and done everything timely unlike the chain below but can’t rush now at the last minute . We put in offer above asking . . Would like 10 working days from exchange. Unreasonable ? Feeling so pressured ! Advice how to phrase ?

I had a similar situation recently. I emailed my solicitor and proposed a date for exchange and a date for completion that was two weeks later. I said that I didn't mind if the dates shifted a bit but that I needed two weeks between exchange and completion, and couldn't complete during a particular week. I asked him to pass it down the chain and everyone agreed. I think all you can do is ask. You don't need to give reasons because nobody really cares. Your request is reasonable and you have as much right to ask as anyone else. Others in the chain may tweak your dates but stand firm on your non-negotiable. YANBU so I doubt anyone will pull out because of this. If they do, they were going anyway.
