Currently trying to buy a house, I'm a first time buyer so pretty clueless Confused
Have been looking at totally 'done' places but something has come on the market that obviously needs work doing to it. Obviously a lot of questions re bigger/structural type iasues when we get to a viewing but just looking at the ad it looks like overtime it would need at the very least:
New kitchen
Flooring throughout (probably a mix of carpet and hard flooring)
Plastering/painting
New bathroom

It looks generally liveable in, so we could hopefully do these things gradually over time but I just wanted a sense of what an average cost might be for some of these things, say mid range, I live in a fairly average cost area of the country I'd say. It's a fairly bog standard layout 3 bed semi.

Currently it's hard to get a builder and prices have increased.

I wonder if prices will start to fall because people are no longer having work done due to cost of living increases?

Depends on strength of pound and cost of materials coming from abroad. Even things produced here would have increased because of the increase in energy costs. High materials costs is probably going to be around for a long time.

It’s really funny actually because I moved in at the beginning of the year and a builder friend of mine said wait until October to get anything done and here we are. I’ve been able to get four people round to give me a quote on my roof today I think that would’ve been impossible back in January.

i’m gonna be getting quotes for my kitchen and my bathroom and I am certainly not expecting them to be more than 6K each all in.

I could easily spend 20 grand on each so it’s very much down to your taste.

flooring I generally budget £1000 for LVT per room and £500 for carpet you can often do it for less though.
