Help/advice please
Currently in a private rented contract for another year but cohabitating with ex partner. Need to be closer to family for support with childcare etc for when go back to work. I don’t know where to start with housing on my own as I’ve only ever rented with someone.
My options are:
- Look into applying for help from the council for housing although I don’t know if they’d accept my application based on my current circumstances of having a tenancy. Would I need to move in with family and make myself overcrowded? Not really wanting to do that because I have a child in school and a baby.
- Private rent somewhere cheaper and smaller but I don’t know how affordable that will be on my own as rent prices seem to be high at the moment. I could maybe do this if I was accepted but I’d then probably have to lower my hours at work to then claim UC.
- Look into shared ownership, again not sure if I’d be accepted on my own but I know I could get the deposit together if it’s smaller and a share of a property.
