London Colney vs Welwyn Garden City

Hi ladies, we are currently living in St Albans and renting, looking for property to buy but St Albans is too pricey. I dont want to go so far from here therefore checking properties around LC and WGC. Do you have any suggestion on them, which one would you prefer ?
We are 32&36 expats and expecting a baby.

Colney is a small village with very little going on. My grandparents used to live there and my parents have a flat there now. I love visiting with the kids to go paddling but I wouldn't want to live there, it's even more dead than it was when I was a child.

I can't comment on Welwyn.

Do you need to commute anywhere by train?
