Floor Plan for Extension

I have just brought a new property privately (so no floor plans from estate agent) and I know I want to extend but I'm struggling to figure out how to use the space / move rooms around.

Has anyone used an app / software / website that has helped them to do this?

I would like to get an idea of what I want in my head before I start paying an architect a small fortune for plans... thanks in advance.

Not specifically but we have done an extension (well, still doing it!). Do you feel you need more space (and if so, on which floors?), or that you need to reconfigure the existing space so it works better?

In your position, I wouldn’t do anything just yet. I’d live in the house for a few months (a year even), get a sense of how the light falls, what you like and what annoys you, and what space you need for what.

Then I would get some recommendations for local architects and put these thoughts to them and see what they suggest. Most will offer a free initial no-obligation visit. We found some had more ideas than others, and it does depend on budget and how invasive you’re prepared to go with work.
