In the last few days, we have had contact from 5 different tradies who we've either used in the past or discussed future work with, asking if we have any work going. Fencing, building, loft conversions, windows people.

Do you think people are changing their minds and cancelling building work with the current economic instability? We have put off a lot ourselves due to the cost of materials. Is anyone else experiencing this? Maybe it's worth getting new quotes.

Yeah definitely. I have a chimney sweep and a carpenter in the family. Chimney sweep is busier than ever (presumably because people aren't using their central heating) and carpenter is down on work. The price of timber has rocketed as well so building work is just so much more expensive than a few years ago

Opposite where I live. You can’t get anyone to do anything for love nor money. It took me eight weeks to get a roofer to fix a hole in the roof and I’m waiting now for a builder to get back in touch over a very urgent job. Here they only want big jobs not smaller jobs. North West.

Where I am it's hard to even get a quote. That's London though
