Delay between exchange and completion - normal?

Quick question:

Our sellers are divorcing and moving into separate rented accommodation and have asked for a minimum of 28 days between exchange and completion. Has anyone else had this? Did it cause any problems? And would you start ordering things for the house (new sofa, curtains etc...) during this time? Or would you still not risk it?

A week is normal. More than that and you are basically delaying completion. I’d quite like it though, and yes I’d start ordering things and proceeding as though it was a done deal.

I think 28 days is within the normal range - just.
