FTB help!

I’m a FTB and after some advice on checking in on progress of my purchase.

So far: offer accepted end of August
conveyancing solicitor instructed 02/09
mortgage offer 13/09

Vendors were keen to move forward quickly and I definitely am. I have two questions.

*I’d like to check in on progress - should I do this with solicitor or estate agents? What questions should I ask (rather than asking vaguely for an update)?

*I’ve ordered a homebuyer report survey, is it worth adding a valuation into this for when I get buildings insurance? (I’ve not been given any valuation as part of my mortgage offer)

Totally new to this and doing it on my own so appreciate thoughts

I'd ask your solicitor for an update. Have they said whether the searches are in progress? You'll want to know when you can expect them to be completed.

I wouldn't bother paying for a valuation, you don't need that for home insurance purposes.

Good luck!

Thank you! No, I haven’t heard anything from my solicitor since I sent them my ID docs at the start of September - they said they would be contacting vendors solicitors and would keep me posted.
