Would you get a gas boiler right now?

I've just bought a new house and the oil boiler needs to be replaced. I can get grants to replace the oil boiler for a gas one. I need a new one either way and gas is more convenient etc but would you put a gas boiler with how things are? Is there a better option? Thanks for any input!

is there a gas supply to the property. Oil boilers are nearly always in place because there isn't a mains gas supply

We have just bought a house and need to replace the boiler. Due to the size/layout of the property I think we're going to need a system boiler rather than a combi boiler so I'm just in the process of researching that. I've got an engineer coming out on Friday to run through our options/quote.

The other choice for us is two separate combi boilers (it's for a main house and an annexe).

But to answer your question, yes, we're going down the gas boiler route rather than any other option.

I wouldn't have oil if gas was an option, no gas where I live. Oil boilers are efficient enough but you need a tank and the price of oil is unpredictable.

My parents have oil as no gas where they live. I would choose gas, if possible. For lots of reasons. Organising deliveries, monitoring supply and cost, not wanting a bloody great oil tank, etc etc.

My parents have oil because there's no gas supply to their village. They obsess over the level, worry that their delivery will arrive late, worry about price volatility. The tank needs upkeep and maintenance. I don't know how the price compares with gas but I know it's rocketed lately.

Thanks for replies. There is definitely gas available so that's not an issue. I've always had oil so aware of the pitfalls and gas would be much handier. Just concerned about gas prices but I suppose the price of anything is a concern at the moment!
