If you have deer in your garden...

How concerned are you/should I be about ticks?

Recently moved into property. Garden is 0.60acre and we have a couple of deer grazing regularly (every other day). My concern is they carry ticks and my children play outside near where they have been. Should we be looking into stopping them from coming in? We'd need to replace some fencing and patch up holes in hedges etc.

Thank you all so much for your comments - all very helpful and insightful.

I think we'll get everything properly deer proofed in the new year and before spring when the children are outside more. In the meantime we'll let them roam for a little longer and it's quite nice for the children around Christmas time.
No-one has else has mentioned it but the thing that bothers me too is that they leave a lot of poo as well.

I find the deer a complete nuisance . I've been trying for years to create some sort of garden but they eat every single thing I plant . Not even 6ft fencing has kept them out
