Leak causing ceiling to collapse

I have a strange question I know but basically my ceiling has fallen down, the kitchen was an older one so I’m not gonna be able to jump online and replace the cupboards but equally there was nothing wrong with the kitchen so whilst it wasn’t up-to-date and fashionable I wasn’t planning to replace it any time soon. I’m 100% certain that the insurance is gonna pay out for the floorboards and for the ceiling to be replaced and a couple of the appliances got absolutely drenched and I’ve darent turn them back on yet in case they blow my electrics.

Has anybody had any experience as to if one unit ruined, actually it’s two to be fair, did they just replace them all or is that just a case of I’ll have to have mismatched units ?

Kitchen units are usually made of chipboard and will be completely ruined if wet.

They all ruined there’s no doubt about it do you think they’ll just replace them all ?

I definitely got the top level cover I pay the £400 for it because I knew I couldn’t afford anything to go wrong.

The roof blew off my kitchen/lounge in Storm Arwen last November, and the lounge ceiling came down a few days later. I had to get quotes for everything I wanted to claim on the insurance - the carpet, sofa etc. Can you get to a kitchen shop and get quotes for the replacements? I'd never claimed before in thirty years of home ownership, I had to fight for every penny, do keep screenshots of the portal if that's how you are dealing with their claims department.

I mean I can go online and find a new kitchen yeah absolutely but there’s no way they will be able to match up kitchen cabinets, they’re not top of the range and I’m not expecting betterment at all just to be back in the same position I was before the ceiling fell down with matching kitchen cabinets.

Difficult, I was lucky the water only went down the back of mine. What did the loss adjuster say?

They’ve not been out yet they’re not coming for another week actually which is a bit annoying.

Sorry you have to wait another week, good luck. If you don't hear from them make a fuss by emailing the CEO, it was the only way I got anyone to listen.

And just to make it worse I’ve been called into the office next week so it’s gonna be another week after that.

I have concluded from various all the forums though that I am gonna get a new kitchen are they so I’m not stressed.
