Electronic front door lock

I’m sure this exists- a lock that allows you to enter with a code and generate other codes for eg workmen. Google isn’t helping. Anyone know what I’m talking about?

When we were looking at new front doors Anglian had an option where instead of a key you had a touch card entry a bit like a hotel door or office swipe cards. The master controller (i.e. you) could then cancel access cards when required, although I suppose unless you wanted to be constantly buying more you would want the people to hand them back so that you could reuse them. We didn't go for it though so can't tell you whether it is good or practical system in real life.

I’ve stayed in holiday accommodation where they had a key pad to gain entry.
It was just an ordinary front door.

There’s a Yale one with a code option.

don’t think it allows you to generate different codes per user but it can be reset daily I think which should give a fairly similar result. I think they can also work with tags/cards/app for people with more regular access

We have the Yale one and it is great. We haven’t used the reset option

I think you are after a lock called TTlock smart cylinder. We bought it for a holiday rental two years ago and it has never failed us x

Lots of smart locks where you give access to people via an app either temporarily, or for set times on an ongoing basis. I think it’s a great idea. I’m holding out for a fingerprint one though. Even I can’t lose my finger!

We have this www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353190912456?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=RdKXWVu8R16&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=hkWDxZT0SYC&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Not quite sure why it’s only available from South Korea vendors 🧐 - clearly Samsung doesn’t think the U.K. is a vibrant market - but we used to live in Asia and had the exact same lock and loved it. So I bought it online for our ongoing renovation project. It arrived with no issues, though we had to pay import duty, but we haven’t opened the box yet so I can’t confirm it’s in working order.
