Mortgage offer been passed back to mortgage Centre after audit?

Would love to hear if anyone else if anyone else has had this happen please. We applied for our mortgage back in April, and have no end of problems. From one of our surnames being wrong, to the wrong address being given by our mortgage advisors, to then having our offer reduced by 30k (because of the name being changed, no change in circumstances), having to accept a much higher interest rate etc etc etc.

We finally received our mortgage offer early last week and are just 2 weeks away from completion, when late last week we were told we’d been selected for a random audit. Apparently they audit 10% of mortgage applications. They asked for some additional documents from us, and our mortgage advisor has emailed this morning to say that our offer is back with the mortgage centre and we should hear back soon. She said that hopefully, this will not affect the offer we were given.

Ahh! Why would our offer be effected?! We had a very low earning year when my second daughter was born (self employed, massively reduced workload by choice to spend more time with her) and they had agreed to overlook this as all our other tax returns were fine. I’m so worried they’ve changed their mind about that.

Would love to hear if this is the norm and if all was fine. Thank you!
