Any recommendations for insurers that will cover empty houses with ongoing building work? Thanks.

We bought a house to renovate back in April and went through Swinton to arrange our empty house insurance. We weren't doing any building work though so I don't know if that makes it more expensive or not? Our premium for a 3 bed mid terrace with some contents cover (for tools etc left at the property) is £15 a month.

May be worth talking to a broker like www.alanboswell.com/

We are going through building work and living elsewhere. We got ours through Post Office insurance. Lots of companies wouldn’t quote or wanted lots of info from builders.

I've just been sorting this today!

Online quotes were £1750 for 6 months. A friend recommended www.draytoninsurance.co.uk and they have found us a more comprehensive policy and for a much lower price for a whole year.

We've just insured with Towergate Insurance - house went over 60 days unoccupied which was when the mainstream insurers stopped covering it and we haven't started building work yet but they found insurance that covered both. They offer it in 3 month increments which was helpful.

We've used SJL Insurance, not sure about the building work but they definitely cover empty. There was a water leak that we needed to make a claim for and no hassle at all

I've come to know about unoccupied home insurance not much before. During the pandemic time, our home stayed empty for more than a month. We were at a relative's. Before that when we were away from our home for a very few days, I was kind of... I don't want to say that I was worried or panicked, rather I'd go with anxious. About how safe our home would be. But, during that pandemic time, we'd got additional coverage from our insurer for our unoccupied home. As an additional coverage with our house insurance policy. That was a relief.
