Help choosing wall colour to go with old green carpet

Hi

Hoping for some advice from anyone who knows more about interiors and painting than me.
We have moved into a 'project house'. Renovation work will take place next year. Our living room is quite large, north facing and small windows.
I'd like to paint the walls but we have old green minty coloured carpet that will be staying until we renovate.
I'd love to have a dark living room for autumn/winter. Looking at F&B DeNimes or Downpipe. The trouble is - will it look odd with the carpet?
Should I stick to more neutral for now?

Included a pic of the carpet

Thanks

Surely if it’s only temporary then you either leave the walls until nearer the time or paint them a colour that will go with your new carpet, whenever that may be?

As a temporary measure if you want some colour I would leave the walls white and do a dark green (something like F&B Duck Green) as a feature wall.
If you want all over colour I would go for a pale sage green.

Not sure but wondering if we just moved into the same house! Ours is also a renovation project with equally old green carpet. Ours smells rank so we’re ripping it up and putting down some very very cheap neutral carpet and painting white. Could be a couple of years before we get as far as the living room so I’m going for clean and neutral.

Meant to attach a pic

Haha @SnarkyBag it looks identical! Ours is actually in reasonable condition but I'd love to have an excuse to be ripping it out now

The walls are currently a pale sage colour which would actually look ok with a more neutral carpet but against the green carpet it all feels quite drab and dark so I’d be inclined to stay neutral with the paint if you’re keeping the carpet.

Hi @Helpmyreno

I've used Downpipe before in a north facing living room and even though they say that it has blue undertones it's always looked green to me so I think it could work. I did need to add more bright accessories than I expected though as it looked a bit like a cave when I first did it!

As an alternative Studio Green is another F&B colour which is very dark and is a green off blakc and might be lovely.

That looks just like the carpet we inherited, it was newly laid good quality wool so we made it work by painting all the walls Timeless white by Dulux and added blue, green and black highlights in fixtures, art work and accessories. Carpet still going strong.
