Any ideas how this should work?

I had a big leak in my flat (apparently a water filter came loose in my neighbours flat whilst they were away). This has caused a lot of damage.

The Managing Agent has placed a claim on the Buildings Insurance (which I pay for through my service charge - very expensive at over £380 per month). I was contacted today by a builder who the Managing Agent has said they would like to replace my kitchen (they know and trust him etc). He said he has been awarded the work by the insurance company - he won’t tell me how much the contract is worth but had said that anything that costs more or that is not included in what the insurance company have awarded him I will have to pay extra for. He wants to use Howdens (presumably for the discount) but following all the good reviews on here I would like to go with DIY Kitchens.. I am not sure how this should work. I own the flat and find it a bit frustrating that the insurance company won’t speak to me but only to the Managing Agent - who take the insurance out on our behalf.

I am concerned as the Managing Agents have previously sent their preferred contractors out to do some painting (following another leak) and the work was awful (wobbly lines etc which I had to pay to get redone) . I have told the Managing Agent I don't want a repeat of that (other residents have had similar problems) but I think they just don’t care (their reviews are terrible). I wondered if anyone had any suggestions as to what I can do? What would you do? Thank you in advance
