We have some lovely preloved oak cupboards that we are using for our new kitchen. They seem to have a very thin layer of varnish on them, that's looking a bit old. We don't want to paint them, just use a protective cream/wax.
How should I remove the varnish without ruining the wood? Fine sandpaper? Stripper?
