Removing heavy mirrors and framed art

It looks like I might be moving soon all going well. I have a huge mirror above the fireplace and another in the dining room. Because they are placed so well and everyone loves them including me. I didn't really want to take them down as they are so part of the house. I asked the buyers if they would like to buy them for a nominal sum. Really nominal. Anyway they don't want them so I have to take them however I have to then make the wall "good" I would have thought.
Is that correct anyone?
Thanks legal and moral advice and comments welcome.
I have a moral view on it myself.

Take them down, remove any fixings, and scrape a bit of pollyfilla into the hole. Job done.

They are not part of the house and it would be massively inconvenient for the new owners to remove and dispose of someone else’s stuff and they could sue you for their costs.

Removal firms are used to packing this sort of thing so that's not an issue.

Just make good the wall and you'll have happy buyers.

They probably want to make room for their huge wall hung tv and eat pray love stickers. Polyfilla, job done.

Yes, quite normal to remove and make good.

We had a lot of making good to do when we sold last year. Less so with my late parents house a few months ago but there we did leave a HUGE mirror at the bottom of the stairs but this had been specified and agreed with the new owner.

Though you don’t actually have to make good. You can leave hooks in.

That's a bit mean!
Our sellers have offered us two over- mantel mirrors for a price.

  1. They are not our style
  2. We are downsizing and have ample stuff of our own.

No wall mounted tellies or wall writing involved!
