Help me move to Exeter!

Used to live in Exeter about 15 years ago.

Moved to Cornwall but so fed up of rubbish jobs, low wages, high house prices, beaches full of human and dog turds and general backwards mindsets (part time is still frowned upon!). I'm Cornish and am literally fed up of it, I want more and I want more for the children.

Anyway, where is a lovely place to live in Exeter? It needs to be well connected by trains or buses. DS is autistic so needs to be quietish but not silent. Suburbs would be great! Nice leafy parks etc

It has changed so much since we lived there before and I don't know where to start. We were students back then and now we have children so all very different!

Any help would be great and much appreciated. Sorry am rushing, I'm too excited!

I lived in Exeter for years - between st David’s and the city centre and loved it but believe it’s quite pricey.

if you can afford it and want to not be smack bang in the middle I’d say Topsham for sure

Look around Mincinglake Park / Stoke Hill area

Can't help with Exeter, but just wanted to wave in empathy. We're in the process of moving from Cornwall to Plymouth for very similar reasons ( plus family connections).
Good luck!

Thank you everyone for your suggestions!

@FuzzyPuffling I am so glad we're not alone!! Are you selling your house & buying in Plymouth? This is the bit of the process that scares me!!

I'm very excited about our non Cornish future!

Yes, we're selling in Cornwall and buying in Plymouth. It is scary ( I haven't lived in a city since I was a student) but DH and I are looking forward to transport, coffee shops, theatre, culture, interest groups and more diversity in all things. Whilst still being not too far from the beach.

Sounds dreamy and perfect! I wish you the best of luck! You'll absolutely love it x

Thank you. Good luck to you too. Brave times ahead for us both...but better ones too.
