Cost of decorating: how much would you expect to pay?

How much would you expect the following to cost, if arranged immediately post-extension (all walls newly plastered) by your builder?

Downstairs loo (maybe 2m by 1m), utility (2m by 1.5m) and kitchen. The kitchen is about 5m x 4m, sloping ceiling, three skylights, two doorways, set of doors and a window to work round. No doors to be painted.

Mist coat on everything, two coats of emulsion, and satinwood to woodwork (not much woodwork due to kitchen units, etc).

How much would you expect this to cost? I’m not sure whether I’m very out of touch with decorating costs or whether it is extortionate.

I would happily do it myself but don’t have the time in terms of when it has to be done by to accommodate the kitchen fitting - have never paid for decorating before.

I've just paid £1300 for one weeks work, including materials.
If you could take a stab at how many days work, that's £260 per day.
In NE England.

Thanks - that’s interesting. We are SE England which I think is affecting the price. But I doubt it’s more than a week’s work. I mean, I could probably do it in a week myself if I had the time 😂.

I've had 3 bedrooms, lounge, kitchen and bathroom, hallway and stairs all done, including woodwork and doors.
Pretty impressive in a week!!

£150-200 a day plus materials

I had a quote in the SE of £650 just for a utility. We ended up going with one at £400. On that basis I would say maybe 6 - 8 days work at £250 a day £1.5-£2k

I’m a decorator and this is accurate!

@Wheretheskyisblue there is no way that it is 6 to 8 days work.

My decorator did a similar sized kitchen plus utility room and our bedroom which has a vaulted ceiling plus walk in wardrobe and en suite in 5 days. Cost was £880. We are SE 40 miles outside of London. That was last year and the cost of paint has gone up so would be a bit more now.
